Periodontal Care

The key to maintaining healthy teeth is having healthy gums.  The key to healthy
gums is regular brushing, flossing and professional cleanings.  This is all part of
your periodontal preventive gum care treatment

Most professional dental cleanings take about 45 minutes, depending upon the amount of plaque and tartar present.  This preventive gum care treatment should be performed at least every six months to prevent excessive plaque and tartar
buildup.  Plaque and tartar left untreated can lead to periodontal disease, tooth decay, and tooth loss.

A routine dental cleaning should include scaling, perhaps some minor root planning and polishing.  Dental hygienists traditionally perform scaling by hand.
However, new and advanced technology has led to more modern methods such as ultrasonic scalers and air-polishers.  These sophisticated tools allow us to perform
dental cleanings more efficiently and comfortably.  All of our hygienists are amazing!  They are trained to use these technologies, they are thorough, gentle, and will take care of you.
