Restorative Dentistry

Much of family dentistry falls into the category of restorative dentistry.  This discipline is designed to provide tooth pain relief and restore your teeth to natural function, especially when dealing with broken teeth.  The most common services are:

A dental crown is a complete outer protective shell that fits snugly over your natural tooth.  Often referred to as a “cap”, a dental crown is fabricated to fit precisely over
teeth that are cracked, broken, or have large amounts of decay and need extra structural support and protection.  A dental crown is an excellent way to restore large cracked fillings, broken teeth repair, and relieve tooth pain.

A dental bridge is a natural-looking, fixed prosthesis used to replace a missing tooth (or teeth) by joining an artificial tooth permanently to adjacent teeth.  A missing tooth should be replaced as soon as possible for several reasons.  Without treatment, the teeth surrounding the space will shift and create a chain reaction of problems.  When one tooth is lost or missing, the nearby teeth can easily start to “fall” like dominoes.

Complete and partial dentures are designed to replace lost teeth and restore your smile to completeness.  No one enjoys losing their natural teeth.  Fortunately, dentures allow you to eat and speak as if you had your own teeth.  Once you are accustomed to wearing the dentures, your normal function and appearance will be restored as well as possible. Another treatment option called overdentures, are replacement teeth retained by dental implants. Overdentures help both partial and fully edentulous (missing tooth) patients regain function and aesthetics.
